The Super Scanner V detects a medium-sized handgun from 9 inches, a large knife from 6 inches, box cutters from 5 inches and handcuff keys from 4 inches. Even drugs wrapped in aluminum foil and tiny jewelry are detected at 1 inch, across ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless-steel metals.

A large 8-inch (20.3 cm) scanning surface covers more of the body in each pass. A momentary button temporarily eliminates detection of nearby metal, such as rebar and metal walls, so operators can screen in any setting. A clear audible alarm, bright red LED and selectable vibrating alarm signal every detection.

Robust, high-impact ABS with a reinforced coil compartment exceeds Mil-Std-810G drop testing (Method 516.6, procedure II). A weatherproof rubber handle and an operating range from -37 °C to 70 °C keep it reliable outdoors, in a 500 g body made in the United States.
